The Vocal Coach

A professional vocalist and touring artist, Singtivate vocal coach Zara McFarlane specialises in Pop and Jazz vocal styles. In addition to supporting professional vocalists to get to their next level professionally, vocally, in the studio and on stage, Zara is also passionate about empowering female creative (‘non-singers’) to develop their confidence through singing & performing techniques.

The Artist | Performer | Songwriter

Zara has released 4 critically acclaimed albums on DJ Gilles Peterson’s record label Brownswood Recordings and continues to record and perform internationally. She has won multiple awards including a MOBO Award, 2 Jazz FM Awards and an Urban Music Award to name a few. Zara has also performed with Royal Shakespeare Company and at Glyndebourne Opera House. She was a judge on the UK TV show BBC Young Musicians Award in 2018 and features on the Grammy Nominated ‘Starring XXVIII’ for House Music legend Louie Vega.

She has performed with the likes of South African legend Hugh Masekela, Jazz sensation Gregory Porter and UK Jazz Hits such as Moses Boyd, Ezra Collective and Shabaka Hutchings to name a few.

The Educator

Zara has been teaching 1:1 for over 15 years has clients from all over the globe including UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand.

She has been an educator at music conservatoire Guildhall School of Music and Drama, various Music Hubs in London, UK including Southwark and Newham as well as with music organisations such as Tomorrow’s Warriors and Serious throughout UK, Europe and internationally. 

Zara has conducted workshops and masterclasses teaching vocalists and sharing her career experience at various music colleges and conservatoires such as BIMM, ICMP and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

She also lead the vocal department of Festi- Jazz an annual Jazz Summer programme in the South of France for 6 years.
